Membership  

The Temple Beth El congregation is comprised of more than four hundred households, including both families and individual members. Temple Beth El is accepting new members, and welcomes any person of the Jewish faith or anyone wishing to associate with the Jewish faith.

The following describes our membership categories. If you are interested in learning more, please contact our Temple office. We would be more than happy to schedule a meeting with any of our clergy, professional staff and/or lay leadership, where we can discuss and address any questions you might have.

Membership Open House, August 19, 6-9PM - Come learn about our temple and community. Meet the clergy. See the facility. Let's Discover Rosh Hashanah , a fun and educational program for young children, will run concurrently. For more information, call the temple office or email membership@tbeli.org

 

 

 

General Statement  

Any person of the Jewish faith or wishing to associate with the Jewish faith, eighteen years of age or over, may apply for, and will be considered for membership in Temple Beth El of Huntington.

The privileges of membership include the following:

a) Members shall be entitled to vote.

b) Members shall be eligible to be nominated, elected and serve in elected positions.

c) Members and their offspring who are supported by them are entitled to free admittance to High Holy Day services. Members may also purchase tickets, at prices prescribed in the Temple budget, to High Holy Day services for other family members.

d) Members and their children may attend the Temple’s Religious School, Nursery School or High School, and may attend any other schools or educational programs provided by the Temple at member rates.

e) Members and their children may become Bar or Bat Mitzvah in the Temple Sanctuary during regular Shabbat services (except as otherwise noted in the By Laws).

f) Members may use Temple services and facilities at times and prices reserved for Temple members.g) Members may participate in such events that are designated for members only.

Membership Categories  

Following are Temple Beth El’s Categories of Membership. Information about dues and associated fees for each category can be obtained by calling the Temple office:

Family Membership: Family units comprised of two adults, regardless of marital status or other religious affiliations.

1. Young Couple: Any family without children in which neither adult member is over thirty eight (38) as of July 1st.

2. Young Family: Any family whose eldest child is newborn through 2nd grade, regardless of the age of the parents.

3. Family: Any family with children in 3rd grade or above, or any couple between the ages of 39-59.

4. Senior Family: Any family in which at least one of the adult members has attained the age of sixty (60) years as of July 1.

Single Parent Membership: A family comprised of one adult and one or more children.

1. Young Single Parent Family: Any single parent family whose eldest child is newborn through2nd grade.

2. Single Parent Family: Any single parent family whose eldest child is 3rd gradeor above.

Individual Membership: Any person who is single, widowed, divorced or separated, with no domestic partner or children living in the household.

1. Young Individual: Any individual without children who is age thirty eight (38) years or under as of July 1.

2. Senior Individual: Any individual who has attained the age of sixty (60) years as of July 1.

3. Individual: Any individual not eligible to be a Young Individual Member, or Senior Individual Member as defined above.

Misc. Membership:

1. Affiliate: A former Temple Beth El member who would like to maintain ties with Temple Beth El and who are no longer resides in Nassau-Suffolk, NY.
