DEEP DENIAL

Rev. David Billings, Author of Deep Denial: The Persistence of White Supremacy in United States History and Life

Why is racism still with us and what can the Civil Rights Movement tell us about today? David Billings, author of Deep Denial: The Persistence of White Supremacy in United States History and Life, will discuss the historical legacy of racism and white supremacy that we see manifesting in these current political times through the rise of white nationalism, anti-immigrant policy, and tough on crime rhetoric. David Billings will also provide guidance on organizing through an anti-racist lens, based on his 40 years of experience doing this work (from Mississippi to New Orleans to New York).  David Billings is an anti-racist trainer and organizer with The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, based in New Orleans.
