Community Hebrew High School

Teenagers in grades eight through twelve who enroll in C.H.H.S. meet with their peers each week in a combined session with teens from Temple Beth David of Commack.

The contemporary format is geared toward discussion, debate and the re-evaluation of many familiar topics. In the domain of experiential learning, students choose electives related to their areas of interest.

Some electives have been “God on My Ipod”, “Jews in Pop Culture”, “Food, the News and You”, “Jewish Artists Through Time” and “The Twilight Zone and Jewish Values”.

One of the highlights of our program is a school-wide, hands-on social action event that betters the community. Another highlight is the annual conclave weekend at Eisner Camp where students bond with each other in an inspirational Jewish environment. Interactive themes like “The Hunger Games”, “i+i=wii”, “What Does the Fox Say?” and “Tikkun Olam” translate into meaningful experiences and memories that last a lifetime.
