The purpose of our Sisterhood is to be an organization of the women of Temple Beth El and to provide spiritual, emotional and social support to our members, the Temple and its various branches, as well as to the community and world at large.
Women today are busier than ever. Work, family responsibilities, social obligations, and leisure activities all compound the problems of time and scheduling. In order to meet the needs of these hectic times, our Sisterhood has daytime, evening and weekend meetings. To meet our spiritual needs, we plan days of study, write and orchestrate our own Sisterhood Shabbats; and have plans for many new and innovative events. To further our education, we offer informational seminars, dynamic speakers, exciting panel discussions and provide many books for our Temple Library. And then there is the social aspect of our Sisterhood! We sponsored the highly acclaimed Murder Mystery Night, Comedy Nights, and continually plan new and exciting social events. Our annual membership dinner, in the fall, is one event all of us look forward to attending .
Sisterhood Activities:
Sisterhood programs actively encourage awareness and participation in issues of Jewish life, social justice, women's rights, and religious freedom. Our monthly meetings reflect this diversity of interests. All are welcome at these meetings. Several interest groups have created Sisterhood "Circles". We have an active book circle, reading and discussing selected current books. Our theater circle seeks out smash hits on Broadway. We are always ready to expand this group of activities with other interest groups.
